Dear Guild Members,
As we look to The Opera Guild of Charlotte’s 67th year, we celebrate our achievements of the past – our unstinting support of the activities that for decades have fostered opera in Charlotte, of music education in the Charlotte region, and of the social importance of sharing our love for opera with our community. An exciting Opera Guild season is unfolding before us. We begin the year with an opera “Enrichment” for I DREAM, Douglas Tappin’s musical drama. To us, an “Enrichment” means an opera educational experience. Enrichment seminars prepare Guild members to appreciate the amazing voices that we hear and the acting that we see on stage at Opera Carolina performances. We will share this this type of learning experience with other groups that support music in the Charlotte community at an Enrichment Program Preview to I DREAM at the Belk Theater . This event has been planned in collaboration with Opera Carolina. Several Enrichments will follow throughout the year, as well as other activities that support our mission. We hope to continue to reach out to students who pursue music education and to work with other organizations that promote the Arts in Charlotte. While focusing on our goals – which include creating time for fellowship, fun, personal enrichment, and the opportunity to work together -- let us be open to the possibilities that arise. We know that we, with awareness, experience, responsibility, talent, and devotion, will help to make that special difference in our hometown, Charlotte.
Best to all,
Karen Oldham
